Superposition

Inspired from a physical science viewpoint, superposing layers of overlays relinquish different shades of a monochromatic colour scheme. The play of transparency and sheer diffuse incident light waves at different angles, resulting in different colour displacement due to the colour-luminance interations at the given point.

Design Notes:

References from 50s’s silhouettes and different past design elements are adapted and reinterpreted. New technologies – laser cut and heat fusing allow panels of organza to be fused and laser-cut to shape. The double-fused organza is stiff, giving the gown an architectural structure as intended. Using a tone in tone palette, organza overlay on ivory silk duchess satin (base fabric) and semi-sheer panels superposed to relinquish slightly different shades of blue. The gown is completed with an inner corset and organza petticoat.
